Join 9/11 Families and Friends to Create a Better World

The Safer, More Compassionate World Fund began as a response of family and friends of loved ones killed in the terrorist acts of 9/11. It has since engaged many people who recognize how individuals can help fight terrorism. By supporting basic education, vocational training, and health care, the projects comprising the Fund offer better opportunities to impoverished people in the poorest areas of the world, especially girls and women.

Fund Focus
Most of the Fund's current projects are in Afghanistan and Pakistan where poverty and illiteracy rates soar, and a large percentage of the population does not even have access to clean drinking water. It is easy to understand why Al Qaeda and the Taliban appeal to the people of these areas; they offer a vision that some feel is better than the alternative. All the projects included in the Fund have strong grassroots support and represent long-term commitments. They are focused on education, training and health, because investment in skills and health is the most promising path to better opportunities for people and communities that might otherwise turn to extremism.
