This was the last standing bridge in Mirebalais until it was struck by relief containers, which had been washed out of the emergency relief depot with the high flood waters and rushed downstream.

As the waters recede in Gonaives, homes are filled with 2-3 feet of mud. Possessions have either washed away or were destroyed by the flooding.

The flood waters and mud destroyed acre after acre of rice. Some fields were spared, but the majority in this area are now brown and dead. Families also lost rice in depots and rice that was out to dry.
