More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesIlliteracy prevents a majority of rural Moroccans, especially women, from integrating into the modern marketplace. With increasing influence from foreigners and very little development support from their government a conflicted youth is emerging in the Zawiya Ahansal region of the Central High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Library access in this remote region will prepare the children for a successful life in the globalizing world increasing literacy, knowledge, and adaptability. ActivitiesRestoring their cultural icon, the Igherm (kasbah), into a library will boost cultural pride while library access will educate many future generations; increasing literacy, global understanding, and tolerance of other cultures.
