More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesGoats can thrive on just about anything -- even grass and leaves on the poor, dry land in rural Haiti -- so there is little cost for their upkeep. Goat milk is easier to digest than cow’s milk. Goat meat is a popular food in Haiti so there is a strong demand at the local market. Goats often have two or three kids a year so a community organization in Chabe, Haiti, wants to start a self-sufficient goat breeding enterprise. ActivitiesIf we provide 33 goats, supplies and training for the 230 members of the community organization in Chabe, they will pass on their knowledge and new baby goats to other members so that it becomes a long term, viable self-sufficient enterprise. Latest Update from the FieldGoats bring relief and sustainability to ChabeBy Leonie Hermantin - Deputy Director, September 04, 2008 01:54 PM
MPC members wanted to convey their gratitude their benefactors. Mrs Melina Seme speaking on behalf of the group, was extremely happy for the opportunity to tell all the men and women who supported Chabe's goat project about its positive impact on their communities. "They( goats) are already changing things" says Melina, " we are no longer hoping and praying for an end to our misery, we have great certainty that our lives have improved and that things will get even better when our goats continue to breed". "We say thank you to all of you wonderful "blans" ( creole word for foreigners) who believe in our vision and in our determination to do for ourselves. We have nothing to give back, but we know that God will bless all of you and your children. Thank you Mesi, Mesi , Mesi!!!"
